Abstract

The Physical Therapy graduation profile at Universidad Finis Terrae highlights the importance of physical activity in population health and the preventive role of the professional. Within this framework, a project-based learning experience was implemented with first- and fourth-year students during 2023 and 2024. These students designed and carried out an intervention targeting the university community. The activity included education on the benefits of physical activity and physical fitness assessments conducted by the students for visitors at the fair. The project was developed over the course of the semester, structured into five phases, with a total duration of three months. The process concluded with a fair, group reflection, self-assessment, and peer evaluation. The results show good student performance, with improved grades in the second year of implementation compared to the first intervention. It is concluded that project-based learning promotes autonomy, collaborative work, and acquisition of disciplinary knowledge, although it requires a significant investment of time and effort from faculty in planning, monitoring, and providing feedback throughout the development of the projects. The final reflective process carried out by students is considered a key element for the success of the activity.
