The editor of academic journals in Colombia: institutionality and current challenges

Abstract

Colciencias is the Admnistrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, in charge of legislating public policies to promote science in Colombia. The academic journals of the country are developed under its dependence, but the lack of relationship between this state organization and the directors, editors or those responsible for them, is the origin of the lack of collaboration. After analyzing some circumstances related to the current functions of the academic journals in relation with the current policies of Colciencias, this essay relates some personal considerations are related that are surely in the minds of a significant number of editorial teams and must be put ahead any legislative planning in the world of academic journals publishing.
