Amoxtli publishes four basic contents:

Scientific articles must correspond to unpublished works from research with public, private, or self-financed (independent researchers). In the case of public or private organizational sponsorship, the name of the project, entity, registry or code, duration period must be indicated.

Academic communications: papers or conferences made in scientific tournaments of recognized quality and whose performance does not exceed one year in service. They must correspond to works originating from research with public, private, or self-financed funding (independent researchers). Studies of sources and documents: unpublished works focused on the information and critical commentary of different documentary collections useful for new historiographic investigations. They must correspond to works originating from research with public, private, or self-financed funding (independent researchers). In the case of public or private organizational sponsorship, the name of the project, entity, registry or code, duration period must be indicated.

Bibliographic reviews and comments: critical approach to monographic and newspaper news of no more than a year old.

 

Formal requirements for the preparation of originals

 

Scientific articles

Articles must be written in letter size, single spaced, with a 12 times new roman font, 3 cm margins. on all its sides and with its numbered pages. They must have a maximum length of 10,000 words and a minimum of 6,000, including graphics, tables, citations and bibliography. However, if deemed appropriate, the Editorial Committee may also host works of a greater or lesser extent.

Articles must come in the official languages ​​of the publication, which are Spanish and Portuguese. The title of the work must come in font size 16 and subtitles in 14. Minor subtitles: font size 12, blackened.

After the title, aligned to the right, the name of the author (s) must be placed. Asterisks and footnotes should include:

  • Nationality of the author (s)
  • Author quality: in circumstances where there is more than one author, it must be specified, after their nationality, who is the main author and who is secondary. In the event that both have the same condition, the quality of Co-authors must be indicated. Research assistants or other collaborators should NOT be counted as authors, but may be included in Acknowledgments. We recommend specifying the roles of each collaborator using the CRedIT taxonomy.
  • Professional and / or academic profile
  • Institution (s) to which he / she is attached (s)
  • In the case of public or private organizational sponsorship, the name of the project, entity, registry or code, duration period must be indicated.
  • Author (s) / co-authors email address, plus their ORCID record (preferably).
  • In case you do not have ORCID yet, add similar personal records: ResearchedID; AuthorID. 
  • Identification of the role of each author by means of the CRedIT taxonomy.

Before the beginning of the article, your abstract will be placed in Spanish (or Portuguese) and in English (abstract), not to exceed 250 words. The abstract must be representative of the whole of the proposal, avoiding all comments, secondary or filling information. In a separate line (Spanish and English), four to six words or key concepts (keywords) to identify the content should be placed.

The Editor will acknowledge receipt of the texts within a period of no more than 5 days after they are received, and will inform their authors of the decision made on them by the Editorial Board.

Academic Communications and Studies of sources and Documents are subject to the same formal requirements as Articles, except for their length, which should not exceed 10 pages.

 

Reviews and bibliographical comments:

Sending of tables, charts and images: In separate files the graphics (Excel) and figures will be presented (only in jpg format with a resolution of no less than 300 dpi). Tables and figures must be unpublished; otherwise, the author must obtain the respective permission for its reproduction and cite the source in the legend.

Organization of the contents: with the exception of book and magazine reviews, all formats of contributions to Amoxtli must organize their arguments seeking to adhere to the classic IMRaD Pattern (for its acronym in English) of exposition, namely, Introduction, Development (method matters; treatment of the matter and results; final discussion and conclusions. If necessary, for more background on what is meant by each one of them, those interested should write to the Editor amoxtli@uft.cl.

White italics will be used only for non-naturalized foreign words. Bold is reserved for third rank subtitles only. Do not use word break at the end of the line. Quotes of up to four lines must be enclosed in quotation marks in the same text. Quotes that exceed four lines, must be out of text, in a separate paragraph, with two cms. indented on its sides, without quotes, and in Times New Roman size 11.

Relevance and pertinence of citations:

In view of the evaluation guideline and original qualification criteria decided in April 2015 by the journal's Editorial Board (see guideline on the home page of the magazine), not only have we proceeded to adjust the citation style to the most common uses habitual of the historical discipline; Special care will also be taken with regard to the quantity and quality of such footnotes. It is about making the analysis of its relevance and derivations one of the keys to the relevance of the authors' work.

Bibliography:

At the end of the text of the article, the bibliographic references actually consulted should come. It should be sorted by type of source, starting with printed (books or monographs, magazines and articles in magazines, daily or periodical press). Then other printed sources will come alphabetically: public, private documents. Next, electronic or digitized sources. Finally, oral references, interviews, etc. The list of each of these sources must be placed in the same way as indicated for the citation style, with the sole exception of entering them in alphabetical order, considering the initial letter of the authors' last name.

Important: avoid bloating the bibliographic references; Note that four are appropriate for citations per page, while the standard for bibliographic references for a 20-page article is 25.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Graphs (in XLSX document), images (only in JPG or PNG format with a resolution of no less than 300 dpi) and figures (in PPTX or DOCX document) should be submitted in separate files.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word, anonymized.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published or it has not been sent for consideration elsewhere at simultaneosly with this submission.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements.
