Submissions

I. Basic

1. Manuscripts will be received in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

2. The topics covered by any contribution must correspond to what is specified in the section About the journal.

3. The articles, reviews and reports that are submitted to Revista de Educación Religiosa must be unpublished and must not be under evaluation by any other publication.

4. Plagiarism will be controlled with the assistance of software Similarity Check,  provided by CrossRef.. If there are doubts regarding the originality of the text, the editor will communicate directly with the main author to resolve them, so that the manuscript can be accepted for evaluation.

5. There are no deadlines for receipt of articles. It is at the discretion of the editors the number where the contribution will be included.

6. Manuscripts will only be received through the OJS platform. If you already have a username and password, you can enter through the button Submit an article. To request your access credentials or if you have any questions, please contact journals@uft.cl.

7. Authors must complete their profile with their current affiliation, an academic biography, theri institucional email, their ORCID identifier and an indication of the role/s of each contributor based on the CRedIT taxonomy.

II. General presentation parameters

a) All the texts that are uploaded to the RER web platform (articles, reviews, and reports) must come in an MS Word file that complies with the following format:

• Font: Times New Roman.
• Font size: 12.
• Line spacing: double-spaced (2.0), for all text, with the sole exception of footnotes.
• Margins: 2.54 cm on all sides of the sheet.
• Indentation: marked with the keyboard tab.
• Text alignment: left, also called broken or "in flag".

b) All citations and references are based on APA 7th ed.. (2019). It is strongly recommended to use a reference manager (eg Mendeley or Zotero). For religious documents we made a Guide based on APA 7th ed. (only in Spanish for the time being).

c) Its wording must be adequate (legible, without spelling mistakes, divided into harmonic paragraphs, with subtitles). Preferably, it should be written in the first person plural or impersonal.

d) The pages must be numbered consecutively, starting with the title page.

e) In addition to being included in the text of the manuscript, a separate submission must be made of the following elements:

• All images and text diagrams: only in jpg or png format.
• All original tables and graphics of the text, with the original data, contained in an MS Excel document.
• The annexes whose design must be respected will be received in jpg format.

The specifications for each type of text, which will also serve as a guide for its evaluation, are as follows:

1. Specific parameters for Articles

a) The title (relevant and attractive) should appear on the first page of the article. Then a summary of the research that does not exceed 200 words. In addition, a list of three to five keywords (terms from the subject areas covered), all in both Spanish and English.

b) The length must be from a minimum of 4,000 words to a maximum of 7,000, including footnotes, abstracts, keywords, and bibliography. Charts, tables, and images are not part of the length of the article; For its use, the authors must ensure that the rights of use are in force.

c) To ensure impartiality in the evaluation, the name of the authors should not appear on any of the pages of the article, nor in the name of the document. The contact details (name, addresses, mobile phones, email address), as well as the details of the institution to which they belong, and other personal information must be recorded by the authors in their user profile on the platform. Only when your contribution is published will the name, email address, affiliation and biographical note of each author be made public (see Privacy Statement).

1.1. Articles that report an empirical investigation.

a) The abstract must be structured and contain five elements:

• Introduction: What antecedents contextualize this research?
• Problem: What is the problem you are trying to solve?
• Methodology: How was the problem dealt with?
• Results: What is the answer to the problem?
• Conclusions: What are the implications of this answer?

b) In the following section, the problematization of the topic must be presented, its relevance for religious education must be justified, and the objective / guiding question of the article must be presented.

c) Then, a relevant, limited and updated theoretical framework must be presented.

d) Of particular relevance is the subsequent presentation of the methodological procedure. So:

1. - For quantitative cases, you must present:
   • Sampling
   • Data collection instruments
   • Data collection process
   • Data analysis
2. - For qualitative cases, you must present:
   • Focus
   • Data collection strategies
   • Data collection process
   • Data analysis

e) In the following sections of the article, the results and their discussion should be presented, to conclude with a section that reconnects with the objective / question of the work.

1.2. Articles that report a bibliographic review

a) Preferably the title should indicate that it is a bibliographic review.

b) The abstract should include, where appropriate: introduction, objectives, databases consulted, eligibility criteria of the texts, methods used to analyze the texts, results of the analysis of the texts, study limitations, conclusions, and implications of the main results.

c) The next section should have the justification for the review, the objective of the review and structure of the article.

d) Subsequently, the method used must be made explicit, that is:

• Eligibility criteria for the sources to be analyzed.
• Indicate which sources of information you used and the period of your search.
• Databases or academic-scientific repositories consulted.

e) In the following sections you must present results (with the development of the analysis proposed in the initial section), a discussion of the results, closing with a conclusions section, where you refer to the objective of the work.

1.3. Articles reporting an essay

a) The abstract must be structured and contain four elements:

• Introduction (its purpose)
• Initial question (analysis proposal)
• Analysis (answer to the problem)
• Conclusions (implications of said response)

b) In the following section, the problematization of the topic must be presented, its relevance for religious education must be justified, and the objective / guiding question of the article must be presented.

c) Then, the proposal must be presented and discussed through a relevant, limited and updated theoretical framework, demonstrating rigor in the conceptual management of the cited authors together with a solid and coherent argument.

d) It concludes with a section that refers to the objective of analysis or initial question of the work.

2. Exclusive parameters for Reviews

a) The review must begin with a title, which should be different from the work reviewed.

b) Then, the bibliographic citation of the work should be presented.

c) In the introduction, a thematic presentation and contextualization of the work must be made, as well as its structure and other aspects that are relevant, especially for the reader focused on religious education.

d) In the development, a description of the content must be made, possible textual citations, presenting the main concepts and ideas developed, with comments and evaluations from the reviewer.

e) In the conclusion, the reviewer makes comments with global judgments and positive or negative recommendations of the work, making emphasis on the degree of contribution to religious education in general or to a particular area of it.

f) The review ends with the name and reference institution of the reviewer.

g) The total length should not exceed 1000 words.

h) The reviewed texts must have a publication date that does not exceed three years with respect to the number of the journal in which it would be included.

3. Exclusive parameters por Reports

a) It must start with a title. This must be the official one in a work that is authored by another person or organization, or it must be precise and brief if it was elaborated by the person presenting it.

b) In the introduction, a brief presentation and contextualization of the work or fact to be reported should be made, as well as any other aspect that is relevant for the reader focused on religious education.

c) Then, if the text is already prepared, it is presented totally or partially. If it is an elaboration of the author, the content is presented, with eventual citations.

d) Whether it is a work elaborated by others or if it is of their own elaboration, in the Conclusion the author makes comments with global judgments of the work, emphasizing the degree of contribution to religious education in general or to a particular area of it.

e) The report concludes with the name and reference institution of the submitter.

f) The total length should not exceed 5,000 words.

g) The works reported must have an elaboration date that is no more than one year old with respect to the number of the magazine in which it would be included.
